Singing in the Rain

Yesterday was a really fun day. After I went for a walk (not able to run anymore at this point in pregnancy) and got my shower, Drew headed off to Lowe's to get the supplies for a split rail fence to go along our retaining wall. The girls and I had lunch and decided to go visit our neighbors across the street, the Gleasons. The Gleasons live in High Point and have a cabin that they vacation in up here. They also have a 5 year old granddaughter, Jayden, who comes up with them from time to time and Evie and Mary Fran have gotten to know her. We noticed they were up on Friday and went for some playin'. After a nice visit we came home for naps and Drew arrived home with all his supplies. Once the girls woke up and the rain cleared out, we headed out to "help" Daddy with his project. As we were heading out, Evie said, "Daddy, there's a man who just drove up our driveway in a lawn mower." It was Uncle Dustin. They got to work on the fence and the girls and I decided to set up the Elmo sprinkler MeMe brought last time she was here. They had a blast!

Evie was running around in the water but Mary Fran had to warm up to it first. I have to say, the well water is pretty chilly coming up! Notice the finished product of the stairway Drew built in the background. Of note, when Drew was digging the first post hole, he hit a huge rock that will turn out to be a great flagstone and the top of the stairs!

To avoid flooding in the yard, we had to move Elmo every so often. However, Mary Fran decided her shoes needed washing so she took it upon herself to get that going. Evie joined in.
Ruthie came up after a while to join in the festivities. They had quite a big time!

Here's one I just couldn't resist. I gave the girls biscuits with blueberry jam this morning for breakfast. The jam is some that the girls helped me make Friday and they thoroughly enjoyed eating the fruits of their labor. As you can see, Mary Fran really enjoyed hers!
