Tonight we went to a wonderful night of music. MaMaw and Ernie brought The Watauga Democrat by to Drew at work today and showed him the advertisement for a benefit concert for a faculty member of a summer music camp up here for tonight. This gentleman has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and needs help with his medical bills. There was no charge just donations. We decided to go as they were going to be playing fiddles, guitars, bass, and many others and thought the girls would really enjoy it. Boy, did they!
After picking up MaMaw and Paw Paw, we went to the Blowing Rock Elementary School Auditorium and had a wonderful time! The music was incredible and the girls danced in the aisles. We saw 3 fiddles, guitars, a bass, a cello, mandocello, banjo, and accordion and heard everything from bluegrass to Celtic to jazz music. It was a wonderful experience!
I'm so glad we live in an area where we can expose our children to great and diverse music. It's such a part of our family and we feel if we can help them to appreciate good music now it will be a lasting thing in their lives.
