Recovering

Yesterday was a day of recovering for Drew and myself. Let me tell you, this one really took it out of you. I told Daphne yesterday that I just had to keep telling myself to keep going because if I sat down I knew I wasn't going to get back up. There were kids, a husband, and a household to take care of. The bug ended up getting all of us with MF throwing up yesterday morning and Evie in the evening. After all of that, though, everyone seemed to be fine and over it. Children are so resilient!
Today Drew went back to work and it was a "normal day" here. We really didn't do much for "workbook time" except read together with the girls and do some puzzles. I just couldn't get my head in it or the sleep out of my eyes. We also did some ballet. Yes, I said ballet. No, I did not wear a leotard but the girls certainly did. See...
This is first position. I didn't catch Mary Fran at a great moment to snap but believe me she was excited. We went to a consignment sale here in Ashe County last night and I found the girls two leotards each, one black and one pink. They were super excited and put them on this morning after I had my shower (didn't get up early enough to get it before they woke. Like I said, did too much yesterday). We practiced our posture, arm positions, and learned first and second position along with doing releve and plie in each position. They did really good. Lesson lasted about 10 minutes and we let Daddy watch on the webcam once we practiced a couple of times. Then, it was free dancing time with some great "ballet music" (Steven Curtis Chapman's "Cinderella" and "Remembering You"). No, Ward did not participate at this point but did put on a dancing show with the fast songs after his playtime was over.
We are looking into possibly starting some dance lessons in the Fall for the girls but for now I'm getting some videos to go along with "mommy's instruction." We're weighing what we would like to involve the girls in knowing we will have a new baby and Fall is always a very busy time in our immediate and extended family. We've come to learn that activities are "good", like dance, but not everything that's good is the "best" at certain times. The last thing we want is to be running all over the place with a new baby and all the adjustments that brings to an entire family that we no longer have time as a family. OK, enough of my explanations. :)
We enjoyed beautiful weather yesterday and sunned ourselves good in the afternoon. The clouds and rain are back today and we'll have some more chilly temperatures but it's NOT SNOW or ICE!! I can deal with that and as Drew says, "There's a lot more winter behind us than in front of us."

Hi Fran! If you decide on dance lessons, you should look into Thoughtful Thursdays, our homeschool co-op. Rebecca Miller, who teaches at Northwestern, has great dance classes that are affordable and very relaxed (preschool too.) You ought to come by on Thursday and observe! On pretty days moms hang out on the playground with the little ones.
