On Saturday morning, we decided to head over to downtown West Jefferson to Christmas in July. Yes, you read that right, Christmas in July. It is an annual festival on the first weekend in July and this year it fell on the 4th! We walked through all sorts of local craft booths, saw some of the Revolutionary War reenactors, listened to wonderful music, smelled Fair-like fare, watched dancers on stage, and enjoyed some "blow up rides."
Evie chose this huge slide as her "ride." There was some question as to whether she would be OK climbing the "ladder" to the top but there was not trouble for this one. Up she went...
...and down she came.
Mary Fran chose to go on the trampoline because she wanted to jump. Yes, I showed it to her for a while and asked if she truly did want to try this one out. She answered, "Yes, mommy. I want to jump!" Evie said she would go with her so she wouldn't be so scared and MF was grateful. Then, Evie, Mary Fran, and the other children climbed in for jumping fun MF decided this wasn't for her. She came out crying telling me, "Mommy, everybody was jumping!" As you can see, though, Evie had a wonderful time!
After naps we headed over to Dustin and Daphne's for some ribs, hamburgers, squash and vidalia onions, potatoes, and many more delicious treats. After baths, we headed out into the dwindling light to try our hand at sparklers. The big girls loved them (except for MF who kept a safe distance)!
