Sickness, Concerts, and Snow

We were supposed to start back with home preschool this week but Ruthie and MF have been under the weather. We postponed it to today but thought better of it when those two weren't fully recovered. Therefore, we have been "hunkering down" and trying to get better. We did have a busy day yesterday with MaMaw and Paw Paw watching the girls so I could get a haircut and do a few errands. Drew and I were also going to have lunch with some friends, Boone and Rachel, along with Dus and Daph. MaMaw called when I was headed to lunch and said MF was crying and she couldn't calm her down, therefore, MF joined us and Evie stayed at her own request.
Boone is a fellow that Drew and Dus know through the homeschooling community. He is younger than the guys but they all have an avid interest in guns and hunting among other things. I think Boone has looked up to Drew and Dustin and since he and his new bride were in town the past couple of days they asked if we could all have lunch. We had a wonderful time together and it was really good to meet Rachel. They even came by last night to get a gun from us for Boone to work on (he is a gunsmith). We talked for a good while and I was reminded again about our first year of marriage.
After they left, I told Drew that I feel so fortunate that the Lord put people in our lives that gave us such great perspective that early in our marriage (and even before we said "I do"). There are a few couples we have and continue to go for accountability and advice and I have prayed that we would be able to do that for a young couple or two as we have been so blessed. Unfortunately, today we are so busy in our lives doing "things" that we don't have time for deep relationships and true accountability. I would say that is one of the biggest detriments to our society today. I would urge all of us to slow down, pray for, and expect to find those real, true, and deep relationships. It is how God intended us to be.
On a lighter note, we had an impromptu concert at our house last night before Boone and Rachel arrived...
Drew on guitar, Evie on the fiddle, and Mary Fran on the harmonica. Sweet music!
This is what we woke up to this morning. It is cold and keeps us inside a lot but at least it's pretty to look at. Can't ask for much more!Since preschool was postponed to next Tuesday we decided to do some painting with the girls' new paints. They made pictures for mommy and daddy and then we called daddy on the webcam to show them to him. Gotta love technology!

I need a webcam too! Then I could just call up the girls anytime I wanted to! Great post!
