An Entrepreneurial Mind

We rather enjoy the Watauga County Farmer's Market.  Great produce, always see people you know, just great.  Last month when we were there one Saturday Evie wandered over to a spot where they're hosting a "Kid's Market" this year.  Children were selling crafts, produce, plants, etc and Evie got to talking to the person in charge who said, "Just ask your parents if you can next time and we'd love to have you!"  That's all they had to say!  She asked me if we could do it next time and I said, "Of course!"  After getting more information, I found out they let the children sell stuff every third Saturday and boy, July 21st couldn't get here soon enough!
Mary Fran decided she wanted to get in on the action, too, so we put our heads together and settled on making Lavender Sachets.  We learned last Fall at Old Salem that back then people would make lavender sachets and rub them on their skin to keep the insects away.  Well, as we all know, the bugs have been awful this year because of the mild winter, so we thought these would sell nicely.  I mean, who wouldn't want a chemical free, natural, good smelling insect repellent that's mild enough to use even on babies?!?
Saturday morning we headed up to the Market and set up shop...
We started a little before 9 and the 42 they made were sold out by 10:40!  At 50 cents each, how could one resist?  We'll be heading back up there August 18th, so if you're in town come on by!
