This morning when I came home from my walk I heard some turkeys gobbling up in the woods in front of our house. I came in and told Drew and the girls what I heard and to come outside. (When I came in, Drew had his head buried in the pillows of the couch and I later found out he was the "bear" trying to get into his cave which the girls were guarding.) Anywho, we went outside and listened to several turkey gobbling and Drew called to them. They obliged by answering back. We could tell they were just up the hill so the girls and I decided to head up the hill a little ways to see if we could spy them. Before we could go, though, Drew went and got one of his turkey calls and showed Evie how to use it. She did very well.
We ladies headed up the hill with Evie "calling" them every little bit and all three of us treading lightly and listening. Unfortunately, the turkeys did not call back to us but we did see several of them fly down from their roosts in the trees. It was an amazing sight and the girls loved it! We even found two freshly shed feathers to take home. What a morning!
