Oh, the wonderful Cross
Oh, the wonderful Cross
Bids me come and die
And find that I
May truly live
Evie piped up and said, "Mommy, what is so wonderful about it?" Not quite exactly sure what she was talking about I asked, "About what, honey?" "Well, the song is saying the "wonderful Cross" but what is so wonderful about it? That's where Jesus suffered and died."
She was right. Why do we say it's so wonderful? Why is this symbol of such suffering and agony and injustice wonderful? Intuitively I knew but how do I verbalize it and verbalize it to a 5 year old? The answer suddenly came supernaturally:
"Evie, the reason it is wonderful is because even though it meant suffering for Jesus it shows us and reminds us how very much God loves us. It is wonderful because through His suffering and death we have the chance to spend eternity with Him. That's what makes it wonderful."
