This past Saturday Grayson and his fiance, Jessica, came to spend the weekend. We had a wonderful time and the weather was unbelievable (highs in the mid-60's!). We also went to the West Jefferson Holiday Parade in downtown West Jefferson. Daphne and their family went last year and said it was a great parade so we decided to go on this year (with baskets for the candy, of course).
The girls before the parade started. As you can see, the sun was in our eyes.

Crazy clown lady. Still not sure what group she was a part of but, hey, she handed out candy so that was a plus!
A "train" one of the local churches has. Ward loved this part!
One of the many emergency vehicles to participate. At the end, there is a long line of fire trucks that salute one and all with their sirens!
There is a Cowboy Church that travels and ministers to those in the rodeo and they had a float complete with horses behind it. This was Evie's favorite part by far!
The end of the Cowboy Church procession. As you can see their was a present left for us afterwards. :)The parade did live up to it's reputation of being really great. They have it so early because the Ashe County High School band is booked with appearances through December and they are really good. If you're ever in town this time of year I would encourage you to attend. Now that we're in the mood, bring on the family and feasts!
