An Experience with Baby Animals

Tuesday was our next to the last home preschool for the year. We had built in days when we started back in January thinking we'd have to miss some during the winter for sickness and/or weather. Well, that didn't happen and we were set to finish up at the beginning of April. However, sickness struck at the end of March and then with Ward's hospitalization, we ended up using those "built in" days. Who knew it would all happen in the spring and not winter? :)

At any rate, we learned about baby animals at our house Tuesday. We ended up taking a mini field trip over to the Sloan's farm as well. After learning our "Y" Bible Verse and doing some fun new songs and fingerplays, we read all about different baby animals on a farm and what they're called. We then all loaded up and headed to the Sloan's.

Here is the baby lamb who is about a month old now. It's amazing how much she's grown. No name for her yet but we gave them some suggestions. :)
Heath petted her as well as Evie and Ward but everyone else wasn't so sure about it. This was the first time over for the Rowan's and I think the boys (and Julia Kate) enjoyed it.

Down at the end of the barn is where the Sloan's keep their horses. Here is Sundai's oldest son, Jacob, showing everyone Scout's shoes.

Evie was the only one interested in riding Scout which is understandable. Even though Scout's docile, he's still pretty big. He was also ready to walk and so Jacob held onto Evie, Evie held onto Scout's mane, and Jacob's friend led Scout. I think Eves was in Heaven.

We then went outside to see the three new horses the Sloan's have. This was the only horse that really cared to be petted. I can't remember its name and neither can Evie.

Heath enjoyed the animals but was really interested in the tractor. I think at this point he thought he was in Heaven. He wanted to drive it down the road outside the barn. Maybe next time, buddy.

All the children had a great time as did Candace and I. Thanks again to the Sloan's for letting us come by for a visit!
