This past Saturday we got up and headed out to Ashe County Park to do a little fishin'. We hadn't been yet this season and thought we might try to get a little in before the storms (and then cold/snow these past two days) came. We have an absolutely wonderful park in our county with playgrounds, walking trails, and a nice pond stocked with blue gill, some trout, and a few bass.
This was Cade's first trip (that he remembers) and he was mesmerized! The ducks were of particular interest to him. :)
Evie was the first baited and in the water
Surveying the water
Mary Fran was the second in the water but...
...as soon as her hook hit the water, she had one! Way to go, MF!
Then it was off to the races!! Evie was next and then...
...Ward was cast and...
...he had one! This one was quite proud and excited. :)
This would be Mary Fran's stance while waiting for a bite. I tell you, she's a natural born fisherwoman!
For a while there it was all Drew could do to get the fish off the hook and me to bait the hooks between another fish falling prey to our worms! The biting slowed down a good bit after about an hour (guess the fish heard it was going to get cold and stormy), so we played on the playground some and then headed off for some lunch. All in all, though, we had a WONDERFUL time and everyone (including Mary Fran) is ready to go back!
